I’m Eric Blomberg. Nature is my inspiration. That rock, those clouds, that piece of wood looks like something, reminds me of something. Often that is the catalyst for a process of discovery of what is concealed within.
I am a retired designer/contractor with 45 years experience. I graduated from Texas A&M University with a degree in Environmental Design. I spent 10 years working in Sonoma County and beyond, working on wineries, custom homes and commercial jobs. I moved to Trinity County in 2000 and started my contracting business, Fine Line Building & Design. I am now focusing on woodworking with a design aesthetic, and doing some design consulting and custom work.

I’ve tried different styles; Arts & Crafts, formal, eclectic. But I’m drawn to natural shapes and forms. Natural lines, live edges, the organic qualities intrigue me. Nature is the creator, my job is to bring forth and enhance what she has presented “in the rough”. Some pieces tell a story, one created in part by the viewer’s imagination. Often a piece tells of flood and fire, insects and disease, times of plenty and endurance, even the sawyer’s blade.
I want to bring those stories forth in how I treat the wood. Found objects provide a chance to play, to be whimsical, or make a statement. I hope my work translates those stories to the viewer in some way.
